The Environmental Journalism program at Michigan State University's School of Journalism was founded in 1994 to train students and journalists toresearch, report and write about environmental issues. It is directedby Jim Detjen,who holds the the Knight Chair in Journalism, the nation's only endowed chair in environmental journalism. The program conducts research in the field of environmental and science journalism; assists scholars; organizes training institutes; produces educational materials; and houses the Meeman Archive, an outstanding collection of award-winning environmental journalism. It also is the North American headquartersof the International Federation of Environmenal Journalists.
